Coach Adam Miles

Retired U.S. Navy, Graduated MS Sports Management

When starting my enrollment at Texas A&M and researching military benefits, I became aware of the Veteran Coaching Program (VCP). I quickly learned of the power of Aggie Network and was connected to Nate Young. He and I have built a fast friendship and he has become an invaluable mentor that helped me with the enrollment process as well as navigating the Veterans Affairs with claims and educational benefits. Nate routinely checks-in and provides sound advice as we discuss school, work, and any coaching concerns.

As a High School Aquatics coach who is introducing UIL’s newest sport: Water Polo, without the help of an assistant coach, I know first-hand how the coaching shortage in the state of Texas is greatly affecting each of us and ultimately the student-athletes. What Nate is building here with the Veteran Coaching Program has the potential to greatly serve Texas schools and student-athletes, which is connecting high caliber veterans with leadership skills to high demand teaching, coaching, and mentorship positions for generations to come.

Texas A&M with its rich history, connection to service, and its Core Values, makes it’s a perfect fit for the Veteran Coaching Program. I am grateful for Nate and the Thornton-McFerrin Coaching Academy’s Veterans Coaching Program, and Texas A&M for their continued support and mentorship.
